What is the Impact of the RingCentral & Avaya Partnership?

I’ve had a few people ask me what does the RingCentral and Avaya partnership mean? I have to say, my first reaction was that the messaging at Enterprise Connect 2020 is going to be over the top. It was already over the top from RingCentral, but now it’s really going to be totally out of control. Anyway, it means quite a bit financially to both companies and if you want to see what those impacts are, there are quite a few articles out there on that already.

But the questions to me are really about the customer who is considering a UC or PBX solution. And from that perspective, what it really means, like many others have written, is that Avaya hasn’t really executed on its cloud strategy, and this is a way for it to get there.

However, if I’m an Avaya customer looking to upgrade to a new system or a prospect looking to buy now or soon, it likely means confusion. What if you don’t know what you want to do– on-prem or cloud –and you really just want to know about the pros and cons of each and which is best for you. Well, then you’re going to hear two different messages, probably from two different teams. You’re going to have to weigh the pros and cons of not only that but also two vastly different products.

It’s going to be hard to know who to listen to and trust.

So if you are considering a new UC system and you don’t know what is best for you, you are going to look around now. I’d say come to Sangoma. Of course I’d say that, right? But seriously, we happily sell both on-prem and cloud. And because the system is the same code base, it looks and acts the same whether on-prem and cloud. We’d be happy to go through what is best for you. And we know you’d be thrilled with our UC system. Give us a call or come visit and talk to us at AstriCon at the end of October in Atlanta.
