HUNTSVILLE, AL, November 4, 2013Digium®, Inc., the Asterisk® Company, today announced availability of six next-generation telephony cards. The new models enhance Digium’s broad suite of telephony cards designed specifically for Asterisk-based communications systems. Asterisk is the most widely used open source software for creating business phone systems and communications applications. The combination of Digium hardware and Asterisk software provides a cost-effective platform for building numerous communications solutions, from PBX systems and VoIP gateways to IVR servers, call centers and complete Unified Communications (UC) phone systems. With these new product introductions, Digium continues its leadership of the Asterisk telephony hardware market. Earlier this year, Digium expanded its line of VoIP gateways and introduced new next-generation single span digital cards, reinforcing its commitment to the Asterisk community.

The new A4 series and A8 series analog cards, and the TE234 and TE435 digital cards,  are designed to offer higher performance and reliability and include field upgradeable firmware, low profile form factors, the ability to handle high jitter environments and decreased interrupt times, improving computer processor performance.   The new products, along with the entire family of Digium telephony cards, are the only cards on the market certified for use with Asterisk. This certification provides integrators and OEMs the assurance that their applications will function reliably, and will be backed by support from Digium, the creator, sponsor and maintainer of Asterisk.

The A4 and A8 analog series support four and eight FXO and/or FXS channels. The TE235 and TE435 digital cards support up to 48 and 96 channels (in T1/J1 mode) or 60 and 120 channels (in E1 mode). All cards support industry standard telephony protocols and optional echo cancellation modules, VPM032, VPM064 and VPM128. The hardware echo cancellation modules, based on the industry-leading Octasic chipset, offload the task of echo cancellation from the CPU, increasing overall system performance and call quality.

“All Digium telephony cards offer tremendous opportunities for integrators and OEMs to build advanced communications systems, while also allowing for customization in order to meet their business needs,” said Mark Amick, director of product management for Digium. “Being the creators of Asterisk, users can be assured these new cards integrate seamlessly with Asterisk and can focus on building next generation phone systems without worrying about integration issues.”

The A4 and A8 series, TE235, TE435 and optional echo cancellation modules are available for order from Digium and Digium partners. Pricing starts from $175 for the A4 series, $255 for the A8 series, $775 for the TE235 and $1,315 for the TE435.
